Alternatives
A free Jobscan alternative that also finds the jobs
Checked October 19, 2026 · by Your Apply Desk. We make one of the tools on this page; we say when another fits you better.
What's a free alternative to Jobscan?
If you mainly want a keyword match rate for a job ad you already have, Jobscan's free scans do that. If you want the whole loop free (finding open roles, a fit score for each, and a resume written for the role), Your Apply Desk does that: roles come from employers' own careers sites, fit checks are free, and you get 15 free tailoring credits to start and 5 a month after that. Every line on a tailored resume has to trace back to a fact you confirmed. Job titles, employers and dates are never changed, and lines that can't be traced are dropped.

What each tool is built for
Jobscan is a resume scanner: paste a job description and your resume, and it shows a Match Rate and the keywords you're missing. It's useful when you already have a job ad and want to check your wording.
Your Apply Desk finds open roles on employers' own careers sites, scores your fit for each one, and writes a resume and cover letter for the role using only facts you have confirmed. Its Chrome extension, Penny, fills in the application form; you check it and press Submit.
When Jobscan is the better choice
- You only want a keyword match check, and you'll rewrite the resume yourself.
- You're applying mostly through LinkedIn, Indeed or Glassdoor and want to save jobs from there with its extension.
When Your Apply Desk is the better choice
- You want the roles found for you, from employers' own careers sites rather than reposts.
- You want the resume rewritten for each role, not just a list of missing keywords.
- You want a guarantee that nothing is invented: every line comes from a fact you confirmed.
- You want this free to start: search, matches and fit checks never cost credits.

Get started freeQuestions people ask
- Is Jobscan free?
- Jobscan has a free tier with a limited number of scans a month (reported as 5 in January 2026). Its full features need a paid plan; check jobscan.co/pricing for the current price.
- Does a higher match rate mean I'll get an interview?
- No tool can promise that. A good keyword match helps a resume get read, but recruiters still judge whether your experience fits. That's why Your Apply Desk shows what's missing and when to skip a role, not just a score.
- Can I use both?
- Yes. Some people scan a resume in Jobscan and tailor it in Your Apply Desk. Most find they don't need both once the resume is written for the role.
